I am a student at the University of Florida, but foremost I am an activist. Following that, this will be an activism related blog. Nothing militant, but educational to all and helpful to those wanting to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
I am a geography student (hopefully a linguistics double major) with a sustainability minor. As a vegan, I try to promote the fact that animal agriculture is the #1 contributor to global warming, accounting for up to 51% of all greenhouse gases. I am the vice president of a UF organization enVeg that educates students about the connection between diet and climate. I am interested in organic and sustainable agriculture and really pay attention to where my food comes from and how it was grown. I also stay aware of human rights issues and yearn to travel the world and traverse different cultures.
In a few years, I want to be working with the Peace Corps., or someĀ NGO/non-profit organization. I truly feel a calling (as corny as that may sound) to stand up for those who have no voice, such as the planet, oppressed peoples, animals, etc. It is easy to walk the path of least resistance and worry only about yourself, but somehow I just can’t do that. I can’t wait to see where this mystery called life takes me, and I hope to inspire my fellow human beings to stand up for themselves, for others, and for Mother Earth along the way.
This is very impressive. I can’t beleive I gave birth to someone so brilliant! I am so proud of you and what you stand for.
We love you!
